Founders Benita Goldblatt and Jess Diehl first met when they were 14 years old. They knew quite quickly that they would end up being lifelong friends, but never imagined that before they turned 30, they would be business partners and entrepreneurs, watching their vision for zestt come to life. The duo had created successful independent businesses in their mid-20's, but they were inspired to become partners and bring a new, approachable aesthetic to contemporary home decor. They decided on two things: first they wanted to integrate independent artists and designers into their offerings and secondly, they wanted to provide resources and guidance that would make everyone feel comfortable curating their own space. Their goal is to watch zestt grow into a thriving community - one where you can come to be inspired, connect with the people behind your favorite pieces and ultimately, create spaces that will be the backdrop for a beautiful life

Designer Feature-Colleen Roach

I am honored and privileged to have been named the Zestt blog Designer feature this week. Visit www.shopzestt.com to find unique home decor and read an excerpt from our interview below.
Z: Can you explain E-decor and share your inspiration behind starting Design Bee?
CR: The e-design program is a service that really opens the doors of interior design to a new demographic. E-design divides the work between designer and client allowing us to bring service costs to an affordable level. By requiring clients to submit their own photos, room measurements, and inspirational images, as well as respond to a questionnaire we can expedite the design process. Once the 'design blueprint' we offer is in the clients hands they can purchase items and complete small DIY projects at their own pace and as budget allows.
I launched Design Bee as a way to manage the influx of inquiries from people who were contacting me looking for simple design advice such as paint selection. These people were eager for the designer look, but not willing to pay for full design services. That's when I decided to offer a different tier of service for people who loved my look, but were not ready for all-inclusive design.
Z: We love that Design Bee caters to the world of DIY. For most, color seems to be a big challenge when designing a space. Any advice on selecting a color palette?
CR: My advice would be 'Don't be scared of color, take a chance with it'. At Design Bee we tend to go big, bad & bold. I love color and believe it really brings personality and spirit to a space. Let the drama in your life be the paint color on your walls!
Z: Speaking of color, any big trends you see on the rise?
CR: I am seeing a lot of painted accent furniture and a mix of colors that were not traditionally mixed. Small accent tables and stools are bringing a fun unexpected pop of color into many spaces. It seems anything goes these days with mixing colors which I absolutely love. People are really opening up to new concepts in design.
Z: On the site, you mention "..there is a direct correlation between happiness and the comfort of an individuals home." What are three easy things anyone can do to bring a little joy to their space?
CR: Bring in
1. Accessories that tell the story of your life
3. Photographs of people and places you love
Z: what is your favorite Zestt product and why?
CR: I am in love with the Indie artist series. The concept is so unique and refreshing. It really gives the art pieces a sense of character. I love that you can read the artist bio and imagine the piece being created. I also love that that the collections will forever evolve. I believe there is a piece available to fit every interior style from modern eclectic to traditional.
